YA Transform Toolkit: Your Transformation Swiss Army Knife in Blender

💬 X | Discord

Tired of tedious movements, rotations, and scaling? Want to add controlled chaos and natural variation to your scenes, but find Blender's standard tools too limiting?

YA Transform Toolkit is a powerful set of tools integrated directly into the 3D Viewport's sidebar, turning routine operations into a fast and creative process. Whether you're working with dozens of objects or thousands of vertices in Edit Mode, this addon handles it all.

Key Features:

1. Precision & Control (Step-wise Transforms)

No more manual calculations! Set a step value and the number of iterations to create complex structures with a single click.

  • Architecture Example: Need to place columns exactly 5 meters apart? Easy! Set the Move Distance on the Y-axis to 5, specify the number of steps, and click "Apply."
  • Motion Graphics Example: Want to create a spiral array of objects? Simply enable step-wise movement on the Z-axis and rotation around the Z-axis. Each step will simultaneously raise and rotate the object.
  • Helpful Utilities: Quickly invert values to change direction, or get the distance between two objects to instantly set it as your movement step.

2. Creative Chaos (Random Transforms)

Breathe life into your scenes by adding natural imperfections. Our random transform tool is your creative studio for experimentation.

  • Level Design Example: Scatter rocks, trees, or debris across a landscape with natural variations in size and rotation? Instantly. Set a range for scale and Z-axis rotation and apply.
  • Abstract Art Example: Create a complex sculpture from hundreds of cubes? Set your ranges for random move, rotate, and scale, then hit "Re-Roll" until you get the perfect result.
  • Control the Chaos: Use the Step value for randomization to, for example, rotate tiles only in 90-degree increments, or move objects only in multiples of 2 meters.

3. The Magic of Edit Mode (Multi-Object Support)

The addon fully supports mesh components, even across multiple objects at once! It automatically detects what you're working with (Faces > Edges > Vertices), so you don't have to think about it.

  • Modeling Example: Select polygons on the facade of a futuristic building and apply a slight random move to create a complex, greebled surface.
  • Organic Modeling Example: Make a landscape or rock surface more rugged by applying subtle random noise to its vertices.
  • "Transform Individually": You decide how to apply transforms—to each selected element separately or to the entire selection as a single group.

What's Next? The 'Snapshots' Panel!

We are already working on the next major feature: Snapshots. Imagine a time machine for your object transforms. You will be able to save successful compositions and arrangements of objects to a list, and then instantly revert to any saved state at any time. Experiment fearlessly, knowing your best option is always just a click away!

Minor Update: YA Transform Toolkit (v4.4.0)

Version 4.4.0 is here, focusing on powerful new tools for managing multiple objects, along with significant code cleanup for better performance and stability.

1. (New) Shuffle Transforms

This is a massive upgrade from the old "Swap" tool.

  • Before (v4.2.6): The Swap Transforms tool could only exchange the transform values (location, rotation, scale) between exactly two selected objects.
  • Now (v4.4.0): The new Shuffle Transforms operator works with two or more objects. It gathers the transforms from all selected objects, shuffles them randomly, and then reassigns them. You have full control over what gets shuffled:
    • Shuffle Location
    • Shuffle Rotation
    • Shuffle Scale

2. (New) Offset from Active

This is a brand-new utility for arranging objects with precision.

  • How it works: Select multiple objects, making one of them "active" (select it last). The addon will then arrange all other selected objects in a sequence, offsetting each one from the previous by a specific distance.
  • Settings:
    • Offset Distance: A vector to control the offset distance on the X, Y, and Z axes.
    • Axis Toggles (X, Y, Z): You can enable or disable the axes you want the offset to apply to.

This is incredibly useful for quickly creating rows, grids, or any linear array of objects without needing to use the Array modifier.

3. Animation Removal & Stability

  • Before (v4.2.6): The codebase still contained legacy code for a step-by-step animation feature (use_animation), even though it was no longer accessible in the UI.
  • Now (v4.4.0): This code has been completely removed. This makes the addon cleaner, lighter, more stable, and easier to maintain for future updates.

Conclusion

The 4.4.0 update is a major step forward. Instead of a simple swap tool, you now get powerful utilities for both randomizing and precisely arranging entire groups of objects. This update significantly expands the addon's capabilities for procedural modeling and scene arrangement.

What's New in Version 4.2.6:

  • Complete Edit Mode Overhaul:
    1. Correct Transforms: Step-wise Move, Rotate, and Scale have been completely fixed. They now work precisely like Blender's native tools, without distorting or stretching the geometry.
    2. Full Random Transform Support: All random transforms (Move, Rotate, Scale) are now fully functional in Edit Mode.
    3. Automatic Component Detection: The addon now automatically detects what you are working with (Faces > Edges > Vertices), resulting in a cleaner and more intuitive interface.
    4. New "Apply Enabled Steps" Button: A convenient button has been added to apply all enabled step-wise transforms simultaneously in Edit Mode.
  • UI and Tool Enhancements:
    1. "Get Distance" Tool Enhancement: This tool now correctly captures negative values, allowing you to precisely replicate the vector between two objects.
    2. Consolidated "Invert Values" Button: Instead of multiple invert buttons, there is now one convenient button per section that inverts all three axes at once.
    3. Localization: The addon's UI has been fully translated into English for universal usability.
  • Animation and Stability:
    1. Auto-Keying Fixed: Support for automatic keyframe creation has been completely fixed. It now works reliably for all transform operators in Object Mode.
    2. Removed "Animate as Sequence": The confusing and unreliable animation sequence feature has been removed in favor of stable and predictable behavior with Blender's native Auto-Keying.
    3. General Stability: Numerous KeyError and TypeError bugs that caused crashes during addon activation or use have been fixed.

What's New in Version 4.0.1:

  • Tool Fix: Fixed a bug where the value-copying buttons (the down-arrow icon) in the Step-wise Transforms section were not working. You can now correctly copy distance, angle, or scale values from one axis to the others again.
